SSG Speaks – SSG Psychopomp
Norse gods of Thunder, Syrens, & conveyors of the dead. We’ve all types here in Camelot. This time around on SSG Speaks we’re grilling the later in the form of Psychopomp. Another of the ever growing midwesterner contingent, Psycho came to Camelot two years ago, looking for some Good Games. Without further ado, let’s get started.
How did you find SSG?
I actually googled “Good Groups to play Halo: Reach with” which led me to the TTL forums/community, and in turn found the SSG website.
The power of Google compelled you. Got it. So, how has your gaming experience changed since you joined?
I would like to say for the better. I have an awesome assortment of people to game with and get better at not being blown to bits, though I do get kicked more in Hardcore for team killing FuFu… so it’s a toss up.
Poor Fu. Someday his secret mountain fortress will be completed & when he takes over the world, boy howdy are you guys going to regret all those team kills. I’m just sayin’… In ten words of less, what does SSG mean to you?
A great place to find people to click/game with.
Let’s get historical here: what is the first game you remember playing? What is the first game that really hooked you?
Super Mario Brothers was the first game I played. The first game I really got hooked into was GTA3 on the PS3. I think I spent hours entering cheats and killing people from above the police station.
Ah, the good ole days when the cheat codes themselves took an hour to enter. What has been your worst gaming moment & what has been your best gaming moment?
Worst: when My Xbox got RROD. Best: when I became a Knight / Playing with Rhys
RROD. It’s what all the kids are into. Let’s hope the Xbox One doesn’t have a similar fiasco when it launches. What is your “go to” game when you just have to play?
Lately it’s been GTAV/Black ops.
What’s your favourite snack food when you’re gaming?
Bacon is WAY to messy to eat while holding a controller, not to mention hard to cook without a shirt on… something crunchy: Cheez-its, Funnyions, chips, beef jerky, grapes.
You just need to invent a bacon feeding mechanism. Maybe one of those harmonica holders or something. What do you do when you’re not gaming?
Well I work installing HVAC (heating and air conditioning systems). Which is hard sometimes, considering a lot of times we are in people’s homes. You never realize how many people are packrats. And also outside in the elements. I am engaged with a fiancee, we’ve been engaged for 5 years in January, but we’ve been together for 7 years in December of this year.
So what curve ball has life thrown at you lately, that has given you some good insight to yourself? What kind of outcome did you have? Did you overcome? Move on and realize your limits?
I’ve had to many curves thrown my way to count. I’ve moved 4 times, had numerous deaths in my family, been diagnosed with Diabetes, unemployed for two years. But through it all I’ve always had someone to lean on. My mom is a very strong woman, and now with my fiancee, we both help each other through problems. Having a good support network is the best way to overcome any obstacle.
What are Pyschopomp’s Rules to living “The Good Life”?
Food and fun, good friends and video games.
Good, simple rules there. If you could relive any childhood memory, what would it be? Would you change anything?
Any memory having to do with my grandpa. he passed away when I was 12. He was like a father to me and I like to think that I have a lot of his values.
Boxers or briefs?
Commando… or boxers.
Imperials or Stormcloaks?
Wha?
Not a Skyrim player then? Congratulations, you’ve escaped with over a hundred hours of your life that the rest of us sacrificed. What celebrity do you have a crush on?
Jessica Biel. Just watch the movie Stealth.
If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be?
That’s a hard one, so many options. Bad guy route – Boba Fett good guy route- Han Solo.
I don’t know, the Sarlacc is a pretty bad way to go… So, you’ve had 2 names: Killer and Psycho… So what’s the deal with that? Should we be worried?
You mean you aren’t already? Huh, I’m not doing a good enough job then.
Depends on who you ask. Some people think you’re doing just fine. Put down the sharp object & take a few deep breaths. Okay, now tell us what makes you so psychotic and pompous at the same time? Why did you pick the gamertag PsychoPomp?
It means deliverer of souls to the underworld. I wanted something that sounded bad ass, but when I have to explain it it doesn’t sound as badass as I thought it did. I almost changed it to Hellhound instead of Psychopomp.
Nah, take it from me, obscure gamertag origins are the coolest. Though Hellhound ain’t bad if you ever change again. So, if you were in charge of SSS for a day, what would you do?
Not much really. I think SSG is run pretty well.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. If you could only choose to save one Knight from a burning building who would it be and why?
Only one?
I know, tough question. I don’t think I could answer that one either. Bad guys have your family hostage and they are making you do a series of GTA style heists to get them back. They are letting you bring 3 people with, but they have to be Knights. Who do you bring and why?
Watchtower- That dude is crazy. Option- He’s good with guns… or cooking or something. MagicMike- Getaway driver.
Good team. Though crazy as a qualification for hostage negotiation might not be the best choice… Anyways, thanks for sharing, Psycho. Until next time…
