SSG Speaks – SSG IronHawk

It was the night before Christmas & all through the castle, not a creature was stirring except for the guys bombing through Pandora opening Vaults & chainsawing Locusts on Sera. And who can you always find right in the thick of both of those? Our very own IronHawk, that’s who! Yet another member of our Midwestern contingent, Jamie is a great guy to game alongside of. Let’s dive in & learn a little more about him, shall we?

 

How did you find SSG?

-My co-worker who used to be part of the clan some time ago introduced me to all the great knights here at SSG. Ever since then I have felt at home here in Camelot!

 

Is SSG the first online community that you’ve been a part of?

-Yes this is the first community I have been a part of. Most of the games I have played are on Xbox and I mostly played single player and then a little online gaming on the PC when Unreal Tournament was out.

 

How has joining SSG changed your gaming experience?

-Joining SSG has tremendously changed my gaming experience. I never really gave any thought to playing online on XBL or even joining a clan until I was encouraged to play some Halo with some pretty cool people! Everybody here in the clan are always willing to help you out. With either getting game achievements or if you just need someone to talk to, the knights here at SSG is what make this such a great community!

 

Favorite SSG moment?

-So far there have been a lot of great moments here at SSG. But the one that sticks out the most in my mind was when I was playing Gears of War 3 with SSG Cazaril, SSG Jettstream and Aelius. We were battling the Formers in a courtyard and we were having a heck of a time getting past them. Well the courtyard that we were trying to get through is a huge circle. Well I decided to run around the courtyard a lot while the others picked the formers off as they were chasing me! Needles to say I got the nickname of…..Marathon Man!

 

That was awesome! I still can’t believe we beat that whole campaign on Insane difficulty. In ten words of less, what does SSG mean to you?

-Good games with great friends that are like family!

 

What FPS are you most looking forward to being released in the next year and why?

-There are so many awesome games coming out next year it is hard to choose! I think the most anticipated FPS game for me is Titanfall! Who can go wrong with giant mechs!

 

Indeed. Mechs are pretty much a guaranteed win in very nearly every circumstance. Except maybe Valentine’s Day. What got you into gaming?
– I got my first console (Nintendo) for Christmas when I was a kid.

 

Bet your parents had no idea what they were doing when they got you that first console. They turned you into a life-long gamer! What’s the first game you remember playing?
-Super Mario Brothers of course!

 

What are some of your favorite gaming memories?
-There are four games that I will always have fond memories of. Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Halo and Gears of War. There is nothing like getting together with friends and shoot it up!

 

Where does the name IronHawk come from?
-I am a big fan of Marvel comics and Ironman is one of my favorite superheros. I am also a big Iowa Hawkeye fan as well.

 

How can an iron hawk fly? What’s you mpg? Have you ever been mistaken for a drone?

-An Iron hawk can fly 10 times the speed of light with the aid of a fusion reactor. I haven’t been mistaken for a drone since I am that fast!

 

What is the thing that you most admire about Watchtower…lol no just kidding! We would like to know what your favorite non-gaming hobby is.
-I admire that he is a gnarly biker dude that likes trucks like me! When I am not gaming I like to do outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting and hiking. My wife and I love to go geocaching as well!

 

Geocaching is really cool. I like that it’s quietly grown as a hobby. What’s on your coffee table?
-Well since it is the holidays there is some wrapping and various decorations. I guess you could add in a remote or two!

 

What has been the best moment of your life (so far)?
-That is a tough question since there are so many great moments in my life that I have experienced. But the first one that comes to mind marrying my wife.

 

What do you do for a living?
-I do purchasing for an IT company that provides managed solutions for our clients.

 

What’s you dream job?
-My dream job may seem like every kids’ dream but I always wanted to be an astronaut and go to space.

 

How would you like to be remembered?
-I would like to be remembered as a good man of virtue, who is always trying to do their best and do the right thing.

 

You’re doing great with that one so far. If you had a million dollars & only 24 hours to spend it, what would you do?
-That’s easy! I would gather up all of the SSG Knights on a private plane or party bus and go to PAX or E3 and party it up!!

 

I like the way you think! That would be a weekend for the history books. Movie Top 3 List? Top 10 if you’re feeling ambitious.
-I am actually feeling quite ambitious when it comes to cinema. Serenity, Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, Bourne Ultimatum, Gone in 60 Seconds, Ironman, Ironman 2, The Avengers, Forward Unto Dawn, Pacific Rim, Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men, Braveheart, Boondock Saints, Wyatt Earp. I think I’ll stop there the list could go on!

 

Grumpy Old Men is apparently my theme movie. Favorite mythological/imaginary animal? Why?

– Werewolf because there are just cool. Also because I like the dire wolves from Game of Thrones.

 

Remind me not to meet you for dinner when it’s a full moon. Which SSG knight do you have the biggest bromance with?
-Wow, it would be a tough choice between (SSG Cazaril, SSG Jettstream, SSG Gambit , Aelius and SSG Thor) I would like to think of them as my band of brothers!

 

Your new mutant power: flight or X-ray vision? What would you do with it? Would you use your powers for good or evil?
– Definitely flight! Why wouldn’t you choose this awesome ability? I guess I would use it for good although it would be fun to pick the bad guy and freak them out, especially if they are afraid of heights!

 

What one dead person would you want to bring back and why?
– I would have to say Freddie Mercury. I would love to see Queen in concert!

 

Ooo, good choice. Let’s say your house caught fire. Your family gets out safe. Now let’s say during this fire you could only grab one video game from your collection. What would it be and why?
-Another tough question..since there are so many I like. But if it came down to the wire it would be Gears of War 3. I have had some pretty good memories in this game!

 

Boxers or brief?

-Silk boxers are pretty nice!

 

Bacon or steak?
-Why not both? You can’t go wrong with bacon wrapped steak! Although my most favorite is prime rib!

 

Han Solo or Mal Reynolds? Why?
That’s easy Mal Reynolds of course! Why? Because I am a Browncoat!

 

If you could be any character in fiction, whom would you be? Mal Reynolds..because I love his sense of freedom and independence. Keep Flying and Stay Shiny!

 

Which plague will be the end of modern civilization? 1) Zombie Apocalypse, 2) Robot Uprising, 3) Dinosaur Reemergence.
Most likely a Zombie Apocalypse would occur! Its bound to happen sometime or soon, with all of the viruses going around.

 

What’s your survival plan?
If I could I would build a space ship get off of this fracking planet…but realistically I would have lots of guns and a lots of ammo and I also got my bow as well. So Look out zombies!

 

If we didn’t all live so far apart from one another, SSG would be a survivalist force to be reckoned with in the zombie apocalypse! At any rate, thanks for talking (typing) to us, IronHawk. We’ll sign off with a Happy Holidays. See you all in the New Year.
