Inductee Feature and Clearing the Air on The Path
Before October rolls out, I would like to take the opportunity to welcome another fellow who was recently inducted into our ranks;
Theolauncher
He adds his skill set to our Raider Division. Courage steadfast and weapons at the ready he will help lead the charge. And trust me, he’s good at what he does.
Take some time and take a look at his journey to Knighthood. Hopeful apprentices may yet learn from him.
I myself am new to Knighthood (SSG Omega, formerly AmonOmega), and in this fresh upgrade I have been asked on several occasions how long it took for me. Many ask still how to ‘expedite’ this process. While we do have our own general criteria in seeking candidates, I feel the need to clear the air on some of the finer points base from my journey and what I’ve seen…
We here at Sword and Shield Gaming are not ‘Professional’ gamers.
We do appreciate team members that can contribute positively to the game, of course, and we do enjoy contributions that net us a win, but that is not what the foundation of this clan is based off of. Any gamer of any skill level is welcome, the most that is asked is that you always bring your best and play with honor. We are here to have fun while playing with each other, and that includes respecting everyone’s strengths and weaknesses. No one here has to impress us (but that insane save or awesome splatter is still awesome to see) No matter someone’s performance, it’s all about the Good Game™.
Yes. We have an age requirement
It’s written in our guidelines. But everyone is different and people can surprise you. (I told you to look at Theo’s journey, didn’t I?)
There is no way to ‘expedite’ your application.
It’s that simple. We require a 1 month minimum of Apprenticeship, but it goes beyond that. We take the time to get to know the person, not just the gamer. We need to know that you are passionate, compassionate, fun, and are able to fit into the group.
Can’t get games in? No problem. Real life always comes first. We run on our community, so being active on the forums is just as important as being active on Xbox Live. Keep up with us, let us know what you’re doing and, when you’re ready, let us know when you’re ready to roll out again. The more we see you being an active and contributing member that’s still passionate about joining SSG, the happier it makes us.
Be honest.
This should go without saying, but I will say it. Be honest about your age, your intentions, and who you are. There is no room for someone who behaves a certain way around certain people only to show different colours once their backs are turned. Trust is built on honesty, if we can’t count on you to be honest off the field, then how do you expect us to count on you at all?
Chivalry and Honor. Community and family. That’s who we are. Keep that in mind and don’t be afraid to walk the path. If you honestly desire to find a home among our ranks you will find yourself welcomed in time. In the mean time, relax, get to know us as we get to know you, and of course-have fun!
We look forward to meeting you.
